Should You Upgrade to Windows 10?

1438274974
If you have a legitimate (non-pirated) copy of Windows 7 or 8, you can now upgrade your PC or tablet to Windows 10 for free. Microsoft’s new operating system has a number of significant improvements, including the Cortana digital assistant, a powerful new Start menu, a flexible interface that adapts to touch screen or traditional PC environments, and faster wake-from-sleep times. However, even if the operating system doesn’t cost you money, it will cost you time, from the time it takes for installation to the time you spend getting used to the UI to any time you spend trying to resolve bugs that may pop up.
Should you upgrade to Windows 10 and, if so, should you do it now or wait? The answer depends more on you than on Microsoft. Here are the three questions you need to answer before you upgrade.

What OS Are You Upgrading From?

Windows 8/8.1: Upgrade right away, if you have mainstream computer literacy (see below) and a couple of hours to spare. Windows 10 is a huge improvement over Windows 8 in every possible way. Where Windows 8 forced a clunky full-screen UI on every type of user, the new OS provides a strong keyboard-and-mouse interface along with better touch controls and the ability to toggle between these tablet and desktop modes.
1438277065
Windows 10 also runs a new type of software called “universal apps” that change their look and feel based on your screen size. So, if you have the email app in a small window, it displays one column, but if you run it full screen when you switch to tablet mode, it will have three columns.
Windows 7: If you’re happy with your current interface, you don’t have a touch screen and the phrase “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is your mantra, you may want to wait a month or two before you upgrade to Windows 10. That will allow time to make sure that all the bugs and potential driver incompatibilities have been worked out. However, even if you love the Windows 7 look and feel, there are many benefits from Windows 10 that make it worth upgrading in the near future, if not right away.
If you have a laptop, you’ll benefit from significantly faster wake-from-sleep times, meaning you can open the lid and start typing in around 2 seconds. If you’re a power user who does a lot of multitasking, you’ll appreciate the ability to snap windows to four corners of the screen and to spread your programs across several virtual desktops. If you want to stay organized, find your photos using natural language or perform quick, hands-free tasks, Cortana will be a huge help. The new Action Center gives you more and better notifications.
1438276964-534x400
Even if none of those features appeals to you, you’ll need Windows 10 to run universal apps, a new kind of software that adapts to your screen and window size. You don’t want to be left behind when that new game or office suite you need won’t run on your computer, because it’s only available as a universal app.
Windows XP: You’re not eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10, and there’s a decent chance that your computer is too old to run the new operating system, which costs $119 for the Home version and $199 for Pro. However, Windows XP no longer receives security updates, so your computer is at risk every day you run it. If your computer has at least a 1-GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and 20GB of hard drive space, it should be able to run Windows 10, but you’d probably be better off putting that $119 toward the price of a new computer.

How Tech Savvy Are You?

To avoid frustration when migrating to Windows 10, you must understand PCs well enough to install software or drivers when necessary and to learn about new interfaces through experimentation. You must also be able to distinguish between normal computer operation and a serious crash.
For example, during the file-copy portion of the upgrade, a status ring with completion percentage appears and slowly changes color as you move from 0 percent to 100 percent. However, in our experience, sometimes the percentage ring continues to show the same percentage for several minutes at a time. If you notice that it has been stuck at 17 percent for 10 minutes, and so assume the computer is frozen and turn the power off, then you’ll ruin the install.
If some component of your computer doesn’t work the way that it should — the touchpad for example — after the upgrade, you need to be savvy enough to visit the manufacturer’s website for your computer, download the latest driver and install it. Most Windows 10 problems can be resolved simply by installing fresh drivers or updating your BIOS.
You must also be capable of experimenting and learning about computer interfaces through experimentation. In Windows 10, a number of configuration options have moved from the old-school control panel to the new Settings menu. If you don’t find the language or display settings where you expected them, you need to have the confidence to look for them, probably by using the search box.
If you’re not savvy enough, wait at least three months from the launch of Windows 10 to consider upgrading and, when you do, you might want to ask a friend for help.

How Much Time Do You Have?

Windows 10 will require 1 to 2 hours of install time, during which you can walk away for long stretches. However, after the install, if you notice that any component of your computer isn’t working like it should or the system crashes, you’ll need to take 10 to 30 minutes to visit the manufacturer’s website for your PC, download any new drivers or BIOS updates and install them. You’ll also want to organize the new Start menu and make sure all the shortcuts to your favorite programs are somewhere you can find them easily.
Overall, expect Windows 10 installation to take 1.5 to 3 hours of your time. If you’re in the middle of a project at work, you’re a busy parent or you’d rather spend that time binge-watching old episodes of Gossip Girl, you can delay upgrading to Windows 10 for a few weeks. However, when you do upgrade, you’ll be rewarded with the best Windows yet.

Apple planning to score more Watch sales with Best Buy launch on August 7

The Apple Watch is set to arrive at Best Buy in August, making it the first store – besides Apple’s own – to offer the smartwatch to consumers since its launch three months ago. The retail giant announced Sunday it’ll start carrying Apple’s smartwatch at 100 of its U.S. stores, as well as at bestbuy.com, from August 7, with a further 200 stores stocking it in time for the holiday season.
Consumers visiting Best Buy stores will be able to choose from the Sport and Watch versions of Apple’s wrist-based device. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the priciest “Edition” version, which starts at $10,000, will stay with the Apple Store. Apple Watch accessories such as watch bands, screen shields, stands, and chargers will also be offered at Best Buy from next month.
The move marks the first big effort by the Cupertino company to widen availability of its debut smartwatch as commentators try to figure out just how popular the device is proving to be with the buying public. Apple decided to lump the watch’s sales figures in with those for its iPod line, Apple TV, and accessories, making it impossible to know exact numbers for the device.
Data from research firm Slice Intelligence in May suggested demand for the Apple Watch dipped significantly in the weeks following the gadget’s launch on April 24, though Apple CEO Tim Cook, speaking last week following the release of Apple’slatest quarterly figures, insisted sales have so far “exceeded expectations.” He noted initial sales of the watch were greater than those of both the iPhone and iPad during their early stages of availability.
At launch, the Apple Watch could only be ordered online, though interested consumers could see the watch and try it out at Apple’s retail stores. The company only started offering its smartwatch for sale at its physical retails sites from last month, and even then only at a limited number of locations.
Bringing its wearable to Best Buy gives Apple 300 more potentially lucrative sales spots, and even better, offers consumers the chance to handle it, ask questions, and listen to persuasive sales spiel – important factors considering the wider public’s apparent lack of interest in smartwatches, a situation Apple and other tech firms are determined to change.

Everything we know so far about the next iPhone

image
If history is anything to go by, the successor to the iPhone 6 is due for release in September.
That’s only a little over a month from now, so we’ve compiled a list of everything we know about the next iPhone.
Here’s what (we think) we know so far.

It will probably look identical to the iPhone 6.

image
Leaked photos of the alleged ‘iPhone 6s” shell were obtained by9to5Mac. They show that the next iPhone is probably going to look the same as the iPhone 6.
Every ‘S’ model of Apple’s iPhones have been physically identical to its non-S predecessors, so this leak is entirely likely.

There will be two different sizes again.

image111
In apparent discussions with Apple’s suppliers, the Wall Street Journal reported that the next iPhone will be available in the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch variations that are currently available.

There might be a pink edition…

image222
The same Wall Street Journal report claims that Apple’s supposed suppliers said there would be a pink option for the iPhone’s aluminium casing. (The model shown here is the pink iPhone 5C, which is made of plastic.)

The next iPhone could be stronger to prevent bending.

image111
Leaks from Future Supplier, posted on nowherelse.fr, show a purportedupdated iPhone 6 Plus casing that’s stronger than the current model, perhaps to prevent bending.
There were concerns that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus could bend under a certain amount of force, an issue that became known as ‘Bendgate.’

It might be so different inside that Apple may call it the iPhone 7 instead of 6s.

image333
MacRumors noticed that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo thinks that the next’s iPhone’s internal hardware and features will be improved to the point that Apple will skip the ‘S’ model for the next iPhone and just call it the iPhone 7.
Normally, the S model of an iPhone generation comes with some performance improvements and sometimes an additional feature or two. For example, Apple added Touch ID and a dual-flash in the 5s, while the iPhone 5 did not have these features.

It’s likely to get a performance upgrade.

image444
The A8 processor of the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.
Bloomberg reported that Apple partnered with Samsung in April to develop new processors for the next iPhone. Presumably, the new processors will allow for better performance.

The camera could be like nothing we’ve seen before in a phone.

image555
Apple blogger John Gruber posted via The Tech Block that ‘Apple is working on the biggest camera jump ever.’
Gruber’s account suggests that Apple’s new camera for the next iPhone could have two lenses and it could take DSLR-quality photos. But the account is vague and there are barely any details.
The Wall Street Journal reported back in April that Apple bought the Israeli high-quality, small-form-factor camera maker, LinX, which could lead to some major improvements to the iPhone’s camera. But it’s nothing concrete, as Apple (and other tech companies) often buy companies like LinX and nothing comes of it, at least not in the immediate future.

Force Touch will give you a new way to control the iPhone.

image666
An attendee tries out an Apple Watch following an Apple event in San Francisco, California March 9, 2015.
There have been several rumours, again stemming from the Wall Street Journal, that the next iPhone will have a similar Force Touch feature that Apple introduced with its new 12-inch MacBook and Apple Watch.
It’s not confirmed, but it makes total sense. A Force Touch-enabled display can register varying degrees of pressure, which could add better ways to interact with the iPhone.
For example, a hard-press on the screen could bring out a pop-up menu to change contextually relevant settings rather than pulling out a whole new page for menus and options.

The fingerprint sensor will get better.

image777
MacRumors pointed out that Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the next iPhone ‘
will be equipped with an upgraded Touch ID module, with which Apple intends to offer a better and safer Apple Pay user experience with reduced reading errors.’
Touch ID works well enough, but it’s not perfect. And Apple surely wouldn’t settle on ‘well enough.’

Sightings of a 4-inch ‘iPhone 6c’ no longer exist.

image888
Analyst Timothy Arcuri from Cowen and Company received reports that Apple had everything in place to make and release a third iPhone that would have a 4-inch screen with the same internal components as the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and that it would be called the ‘iPhone 6c.’
But Arcuri said Apple scrapped those plans.

It will run iOS 9, the new mobile OS.

It’s more reality than rumour at this point.
A public beta of iOS 9 is already available, so some people already have a pre-release version on their iOS devices, and it’s likely that Apple is ironing out any kinks before it makes an official release with the launch of the next iPhone.
iOS 9 will bring small but significant updates. Among many is a low-power mode that apparently give iPhones more battery life.

The real Apple Watch party starts this fall

“The Apple Watch is available on April 24,” Apple CEO Tim Cook declared on stage during Apple’s March media event, officially setting the launch date for Apple’s highly anticipated new product. And yet when you consider all the facts, it’s hard not to conclude that the Apple Watch truly arrives this fall, and its first six months have been merely a prologue.
I wear my Apple Watch every day, and I enjoy it. The fitness features have made me more active, and I enjoy being able seeing notifications from my iPhone and responding quickly when I feel the need. But as with so many new Apple products, the early users are on the shakedown cruise, before all the regular passengers come aboard. This was true with the iPod and the iPhone, and it feels true about the Apple Watch, too.
“Now, our objective for the quarter wasn’t primarily sales,” Cook said during hisconference call with financial analysts last week. If not sales, then what?
First, consider that most entirely new Apple product suffer from shortages, and not just because of pent-up demand. Building a new piece of high technology in large numbers, especially with Apple’s specifications, can be fraught with difficulties. So part of the objective of the first few months of Apple Watch production was to increase manufacturing volume. First came fulfilling demand in the Apple Watch launch countries; then as the initial demand has been met, Apple has added in new countries with their own initial demand and rolled the watch out to Apple’s retail stores. The goal is to reach the holiday season with an ability to accept every Apple Watch order that’s made, and to have enough watches to sell at Apple Stores (and other retail establishments).
apple_watch_watchos2_complications_primary-100589932-large
Third-party complications in watchOS 2 will let users get info and launch apps without hunting for the right bubbles on the crowded home screen.
Then there’s watchOS itself. The version on the Apple Watch today is so new, it doesn’t really even have a name. It’s an impressive piece of work, but software–unlike hardware–is a constant work in progress. Apple needed the Apple Watch hardware to be rock solid on the launch date, because once that watch hardware is out in the world, it’s never going to get any better. But the software, that’s a continuing story.

Getting to version 2

With the announcement at WWDC 2015 of watchOS 2–finally, a name!–we can see how the Apple Watch will function beginning this fall, and how holiday watch buyers will experience it. The big story is support for standalone watch apps, but there will be plenty of other feature tweaks as well, exactly what you’d expect after six months of continued development of a brand-new product. (Not to mention, watchOS 2 will benefit from what Apple has learned from the first users of the Apple Watch outside Apple. The company tested the product extensively in house, but there’s nothing better than hearing from real customers about what they desire and what disappoints them.)
This fall’s Apple Watch will also benefit from six months more consideration and experimentation from third-party app developers. The first wave of Apple Watch apps were created largely on spec, without much idea of how the Apple Watch would really be used by regular people day to day. The second wave came whendevelopers used their apps on real Apple Watches and realized that their initial approaches weren’t appropriate for the actual product. This fall we’ll see a third wave of apps: Some will take great advantage of the new features of native apps on watchOS 2, some will be improved versions of existing watch apps, and still others will be first releases from app developers who have been watching the mistakes and successes of other developers and waiting for the right moment.
“We’re more excited about how the [Apple Watch] is positioned for the long term,” Cook said in that analyst call. “We’re convinced that the watch is going to be one of the top gifts of the holiday season.”
I’m enjoying my time with the Apple Watch, but it seems clear to me that the real starting gun for this product will be fired this fall with the release of watchOS 2. Its success as a product won’t be measured this summer, but after all the tinsel and ornaments have been taken down and Apple’s reviewing its numbers from the holiday quarter, which is traditionally its best quarter by far.
The Apple Watch: Coming this September.

Best Buy to begin selling Apple Watch in stores and online on August 7

Best Buy announced today in a press release that it will become the first national retailer, aside from Apple, to sell Apple Watch in stores. The company says that the device will hit more than 100 of its stores on August 7th and will be available online from that date, as well. Best Buy will expand Apple Watch availability to another 200 locations in time for the holiday shopping season.
Best But doesn’t specify which Apple Watch models it will sell, but says that customers will be able to try-on and buy 16 of the variants, including Sport and Watch models in both 38mm and 42mm sizes. The retailer will not sell the Edition model. In addition to Apple Watch itself, Best Buy will offer “nearly 50 accessories,” including bands, screen protectors, stands, and chargers. It’s unclear what bands will be available or if they will be Apple-made or aftermarket.
Jason Bonfig, Best Buy’s senior category officer, had the following to say about the retailer’s upcoming offering of Apple Watch:
“The Apple Watch is an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it,” said Jason Bonfig, senior category officer at Best Buy. “We are excited to bring Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.”
Best Buy says it will update its website in the coming days with more details regarding Apple Watch, including which stores will offer the device on August 7th.

The Apple Watch, one of the year’s most talked about and innovative products, is coming to Best Buy.
Starting Aug. 7, Best Buy will be the first national retailer, other than Apple Stores, where customers can buy the Apple Watch. It will begin to arrive in more than 100 Best Buy stores and will also be available on BestBuy.com. Another 200 of our stores will have the Apple Watch in time for holiday shopping.
“The Apple Watch is an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it,” said Jason Bonfig, senior category officer at Best Buy. “We are excited to bring Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.”
Our customers will be able to see, try and buy 16 Apple Watch models – including Sport and Watch models in both 38mm and 42mm sizes – and nearly 50 accessories, including watch bands, screen shields, stands, chargers and more.
You can visit BestBuy.com in the coming days for more information, including which stores will have the Apple Watch, how to accessorize your new device, and more.

Apple Watch Leading to Healthy Lifestyle Changes Among Early Adopters

Less than four months after the Apple Watch launched, many early adopters are finding that the wrist-worn device has motivated them to make healthy lifestyle changes. From walking and exercising more often to making healthier choices and playing more sports, market research firm Wristly found that many Apple Watch buyers are taking full advantage of the wearable’s health and fitness features.
More than 75% of survey participants among Wristly’s panel of nearly 1000 Apple Watch buyers indicated that they “Strongly Agree” or “Agree” that they have been standing more since receiving the Apple Watch. Similarly, 67% of participants agreed that they walk more, 59% agreed they make better health choices and 57% said they exercise more often with the Apple Watch.
Early adopters are generally satisfied with the Apple Watch’s health and fitness features, especially those included stock on the device. An aggregate 89% of survey participants were either “Very Satisfied” or “Satisfied” with the built-in Activity app, while around 80% were satisfied with the heart rate sensor and hourly standup reminders and just over 75% were satisfied with the Workout app.
Jim Dalrymple of The Loop echoed similar sentiments in his Apple Watch review in June, in which he shared his personal story about losing 40 pounds using HealthKit and Apple Watch. After ten months of exercising, weight lifting and healthier eating decisions, Dalrymple lost four pant sizes and two shirt sizes, and the Apple Watch kept him motivated to reach his goals:

Apple Watch furthered my transformation. I can see on my wrist every minute of the day where I’m at for standing, movement, activity, calories and much more.
One minute please, Apple Watch says I need to stand up.
If Apple Watch says stand, I stand. I still don’t know why. Maybe I just want to complete those rings every day and feel good about that. Maybe standing every hour really is good for me. I don’t know, but I’ll indulge this little device on my wrist and stand.
Making healthy lifestyle changes requires consistency, and Wristly found that many early adopters are still wearing the Apple Watch regularly. 86% of survey participants said they are still wearing the Apple Watch on a daily basis, while 12.3% wear it on most days, 1.3% go several days without wearing one and three respondents reported that they no longer wear the Apple Watch.
While the Apple Watch is certainly not the only wearable device motivating people to get in shape, the Move, Exercise and Stand rings, workout summaries, achievement badges, progress updates, personalized feedback and its other health and fitness features appear to have challenged early adopters in ways they did not expect.
Wristly is the largest independent Apple Watch research platform with an opt-in panel of around 1000 Apple Watch buyers. The research firm recently found the Apple Watch to have a 97% customer satisfaction rate, a number that Apple CEO Tim Cook cited during the company’s recent third quarter earnings results conference call.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 phones have pen support and will scan your face

Microsoft is preparing two new Lumia devices for the holiday season. While some specifications have leaked previously, Windows Central is reporting that both devices will include an iris scanner to let you log into the phones with your face. This is a part of the Windows Hello feature in Windows 10. Alongside the iris scanning, Microsoft is also reportedly bringing its Surface Pen technology to both of its upcoming Lumia handsets.
A NEW SMART COVER AND SURFACE PEN SUPPORT
Windows Central reports that the larger Lumia 950 XL handset will include support for the Surface Pen and a new smart cover that has a circular cut out for easy access to notifications. The Microsoft enthusiast site also offers up a render of the “Cityman” device that’s expected to be called the Lumia 950 XL when it goes on sale later this year. The Verge can confirm the render is accurate and close to what the device looks like.
It’s not clear exactly when Microsoft plans to launch these two new handsets, but Windows Central claims Verizon will not offer the Lumia 950 or Lumia 950 XL, leaving AT&T to sell just the 5.2-inch Lumia 950. Both handsets will ship with a 20-megapixel PureView camera, with the XL benefiting from a triple LED flash. Windows Central has posted the full specifications of both devices, and they’ll be available with Windows 10 Mobile preinstalled later this year.

Google+ and YouTube are finally splitting up, but don’t delete your account yet

Google is officially divorcing Google+ profiles from its other, more popular services. Today the company published a blog post announcing that over the next few months, “a Google Account will be all you’ll need to share content, communicate with contacts, create a YouTube channel and more, all across Google.”
The decision comes several months after Google stopped forcing new users to create accounts under its social network, which has failed to become the Facebook and Twitter competitor Mountain View once hoped it would be. Google has also split successful Google+ features like Photos into stand-alone products, a strategy it says will continue. “We’re well underway putting location sharing into Hangouts and other apps, where it really belongs,” Google’s Bradley Horowitz wrote. “We think changes like these will lead to a more focused, more useful, more engaging Google+.”
THE WAY IT SHOULD BE
“Your underlying Google Account won’t be searchable or followable, unlike public Google+ profiles,” Horowitz says. “And for people who already created Google+ profiles but don’t plan to use Google+ itself, we’ll offer better options for managing and removing those public profiles.”
YouTube will be among the first big services to move away from Google+. Some of that starts today; YouTube says comments you make on its pages will no longer show up on your Google+ profile. But the ability to create a YouTube channel, upload videos, or comment without a Google+ is still months off, the company says — and it’s warning users not to remove their Google+ profiles before that day comes, since doing so will also eradicate your whole YouTube presence. “Do not do it now or you’ll delete your YouTube channel (no bueno).”
Google insists Google+ isn’t going away and will continue to provide an “interest-based social experience” for users who’ve grown to love its communities. But for everyone else, it’ll finally be much easier to walk away from Google+ in the weeks to come.

iPad Mini 4 Could Have Same Specifications As iPad Air 2

In just a couple of months Apple will be launching new products, first the new iPhones will come in September followed by the new iPads in October. There’s already a lot of speculation about Apple shaking up its tablet lineup this year with some even saying that it will skip an update for the iPad Air 2 to focus the spotlight on an all new iPad Pro. While that remains to be seen there’s a new report from the Far East which claims that iPad mini 4 is more or less going to be like a mini iPad Air 2 because it’s going to feature the same specifications.
There’s already speculation that iPad mini 4 might be the last “mini” branded tablet that Apple releases, because if the iPad Pro arrives the 9.7 inch iPad Air would effectively become the mini variant.
Apple Watch Brushed Stainless Steel Band With Screen Protector & Case 38mm - Ultimate Protective Bundle
Macotakara reports that iPad mini 4 is basically going to be an iPad Air with a smaller display since it’s going to feature the same A8 series processor, 8 megapixel iSight rear camera and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
This would also mean that the tablet’s thickness would come down from 7.5mm to 6.1mm, also in line with the iPad Air 2. It may also get the tablet’s laminated display with anti-reflective coating.
The report doesn’t mention speculation that a new iPad Air might not be launched this year, instead it says that Apple will keep dimensions and design of the tablet constant and launch a refreshed model which features the A9 processor.

Twitter Is Going After Joke Thieves

Microblogging service Twitter has a zero tolerance policy for joke thieves, it has recently been discovered that Twitter will treat a DMCA complaint about a stolen joke in the same way that it treats other copyright infringement requests. Once it’s established that the joke really was stolen that particular tweet will be withheld to comply to a report from the “copyright holder,” that’s what the author of the joke is going to be called.
Joke theft is actually pretty common on Twitter and it’s one of the tactics used by people who create spambots and parody accounts to generate a strong following, which can then be used to send traffic to dubious websites.
Ultra Thin Transparent iPhone 6 CaseIt’s possible to file a DMCA complaint with Twitter regarding a stolen joke as freelance writer Olga Lexell did when a joke she came up with and tweeted was copied by various accounts. She explained to Twitter in the report that since she makes her living writing jokes they were her intellectual property and the users in question didn’t have the authority to post them without her permission.
The issue here isn’t that the joke was shared, it’s that it was copied. If the accounts had simply retweeted her tweet which would have given Lexell due credit Twitter wouldn’t have withheld those tweets, but instead they straight up stole her work.
According to Lexell the requests are complied with “within a few days” without having to send any follow-up questions to Twitter.

How to Fix Most iPhone Problems Quickly & Easily

If you’re experiencing problems with your iPhone, usually there are a few specific things you can do that will fix most problems without any hassle.
It’s not uncommon for iPhone users to experience at least a couple of problems throughout their ownership, and sometimes these problems are a pain in the butt to fix, but many issues can actually be fixed quickly and easily.
While the iPhone is one of the easiest devices to use, it’s not 100% flawless. We’ve discussed a handful of iPhone problemsin the past and provided ways to fix them. While some of the problems require a specific fix, there are many iPhone problems that can be fixed by just remembering a short list of quick fixes that you should know.
Technology can be confusing and hard to fix when something breaks, but it sometimes isn’t too difficult, and before you get frustrated and escalate your problem to the next level if you can’t fix it, be sure to read this post, which includes just a small handful of fixes that will most likely fix a majority of iPhone problems.

How to Fix Most iPhone Problems

If you have an iPhone and want to avoid any big headaches in the future, here’s how to fix most iPhone problems.
it-crowd
Without a doubt, the best way to troubleshoot most (if not all) iPhone problems is by using the four Rs: Restart, Reset, Reset, and Restore.
Restart your device by holding down the power button for a few seconds until the power-down menu appears where you can use the slider at the top to power off your iPhone. After it turns off, hold down the power button until your iPhone turns on again. This restarts your iPhone.
Restarting is perhaps the quickest way to fix most iPhone problems, so if your iPhone feels sluggish or WiFi isn’t working, those minor problems can usually be fixed easily by restarting your iPhone.
iPhone-6s-63-720x482
The two reset choices are “hard resetting” and resetting various settings in iOS. With a hard reset, you hold down the power button and the home down at the same time until your iPhone shuts down and the Apple logo boot screen appears.
Hard resetting is ideal to use if your iPhone freezes up and you can’t power down the device using the traditional method.
As for resetting settings in iOS, you can do this by going into the Settings app and navigating to General > Reset. From there, you’ll have a few options to choose from.
iOS-7-battery-life-fixes-323x575
For example, if you’re having problems with the WiFi, you can select Reset Network Settings. This can fix a lot of WiFi issues if you have them. You can also select Reset Location & Privacy if you’re having problems with the GPS.
The last option is restoring. This should be a last resort option if the other three things didn’t work. Restoring your iPhone completely wipes everything off of it and starts with a clean slate again, so be sure to back up your iPhone before you do this. Don’t worry, though, as you can restore your backed-up apps and settings after wiping your iPhone.
After you’ve tried these four things and the problem still persists, it’s likely that you have an issue that’s a bit more robust. It could just be a bug that only Apple can fix in a future update. For instance, if you’re getting poor battery life, it’s unlikely that these above fixes will actually fix, but rather your iPhone may just need an update from Apple.
However, if you’re WiFi problems or your iPhone feels a bit sluggish, it may just need a quick reboot to fix everything.
